Peter was born and raised in western Maine. After obtaining a BS degree in marketing from Husson University, he worked for 13 years in the management division of a national retail chain. The job moved him around the east coast from Pennsylvania to Maine, but he always returned to Maine each summer – especially the town of Winter Harbor in the beautiful Schoodic area of Maine. While at Husson, Peter met his future wife Sandy, a native of Winter Harbor.
In 1989, Peter and Sandy purchased the local general store known as the Winter Harbor 5&10. With three children at the time, they both felt Maine would be a great place to raise them. The children are now grown, but Peter and Sandy still run the store which has been featured in many national magazines and travel guidebooks. In 2005, Peter decided to go into real estate at the prompting of Dave Sleeper, the owner of Realty of Maine. Dave summered nearby and was a frequent customer. When Peter told Dave about the number of people who wandered into the store asking about real estate, Dave convinced Peter that he needed to expand the store into a Realty of Maine office. And, as they say, the rest is history. Peter advanced to the broker level license status in four short years. He has received Production Excellence awards from Realty of Maine in 2005 and 2008 and Executive Club awards in 2006 and 2007.
Peter is very active in the community by serving on many of the local boards. He is currently the chairman of the Winter Harbor Planning Board, chairman of the Winter Harbor Utility District, president of the Winter Harbor Housing Authority, vice president of the Channing Chapel Preservation Society, moderator for the town meetings, past president of the Chamber of Commerce, founding member and current marketing director of the Schoodic National Scenic Byway.
“I enjoy working with the public every day. In my retail business I help the public find the right item needed for their project and in my real estate business I help my clients find the right house to buy.”
The Schoodic area is unique in that it still has many working fishing harbors as well as being part of Acadia National Park (Schoodic Point) and a vibrant summer community. Working in harmony, these three facets have managed to keep the area the way it is and always has been.
Having lived and owned a business in the area for over 20 years, Peter has a unique knowledge of the Schoodic area and a special connection with the summer visitors. Many have welcomed his excellent advice in the buying and selling of the area’s scenic real estate. Call Peter today for help in finding your piece of Maine.
TESTIMONIALS:
“We had a very good transaction. No problems at all. Pete was on top of things and everything went very smoothly. I would have no reservations in referring Pete to anyone.” Oct 2016
“Pete is a sweetie. We actually found the house on our own, but needed Pete’s help with access and recommendations for inspectors, title attorneys, etc. He did a great job with that and also with acting as a dual agent. I never felt he tipped his hand to either party….very professional and responsive at all times. I would absolutely refer Pete to anyone.” FEB 2016
